About Daniel Sultan Consultancy Ltd

Company overview

Daniel Sultan Consultancy Ltd was founded in 2024 to advise law firms in Asia-Pacific on optimising their submissions to legal directories, such as Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, IFLR1000, Asian Legal Business and others. The founder, Daniel Sultan (myself), worked on the Asia-Pacific team at Chambers and Partners between 2015 and 2024.

Whether your firm is experienced in writing submissions for rankings and awards, or new to legal directory submissions and unsure where to start, a range of different service offerings are provided based on your requirements. I held positions of research manager and principal research specialist for South-East Asia and South Asia research during my time at Chambers, enabling me to advise law firms on methodological requirements and best practices for legal directory submissions, as they relate to Asia-Pacific.

Clients from across several Asia-Pacific jurisdictions have so far worked with Daniel Sultan Consultancy on their submissions. Please enquire at daniel@danielsultanconsultancy.com to find out how I could also assist your law firm.

Legal directories: Service packages

Daniel Sultan Consultancy Ltd provides different package options depending on the firm’s requirements, including:

Legal directories: Areas of expertise

During my time working on the Chambers Asia-Pacific research team, I gained in-depth insights on a range of different aspects:

  • Legal directory practice area definitions and how to effectively present your firm’s expertise within these definitions. It is important to understand practice area definitions as they relate to your firm's practice areas and specific jurisdiction. Insights are provided on this via Daniel Sultan Consultancy.
  • Demonstrating complexity and significance of work through your written work highlights. This can be a topic of confusion, in terms of what is considered to be complex or significant. Daniel Sultan Consultancy can help you to navigate this issue, as it relates to different practice areas in Asia-Pacific.
  • Bringing individual lawyers onto legal directories’ radars. Firms are usually keen to get individuals ranked, alongside the firm department. Guidance on bringing individuals forward via the submission and referee lists is provided, as well as demonstrating your firm's bench strength.
  • Selecting and interacting with referees. Best practice tips for choosing referees and dealing with common issues that arise during the process of researchers reaching out to them.
  • Handling Chambers law firm interviews and maintaining contact with the research team beyond the research period.
  • Besides Chambers, I also have experience of the Legal 500, Asian Legal Business and IFLR1000 submissions writing process.

Additional services provided:

  1. Client feedback research to be conducted by survey, followed by the writing of a report on areas of improvement and market growth opportunities. During my time at Chambers, I gained extensive experience of conducting survey-based research of Asia-Pacific legal markets.
  2. English language editing work aside from that which is related to legal directories submissions.
